I'm Vanessa. I'm a long time lover of languages and I have a BA in Linguistics with an emphasis on Second Language Acquisition. I have studied both Spanish and Mandarin Chinese in an academic setting, but I also enjoy learning bits and pieces of other languages for the sake of communicating with peoples from other places and cultures, and because it makes me look good on paper. One can never underestimate how important it is for a person to look in 2D. I think that most language learning courses are boring enough to make a person want to chew his own foot off, so I created this blog to help others like myself who want to learn Chinese without dying of boredom. I also enjoy playing the guitar and reading things that make me laugh - like presidential campaign promises.
